Turning black holes and D-branes inside out of their photon spheres

چکیده
Very much as extremal Reissner-Nordst\"om BHs, D3-branes and their intersecting bound-states in lower dimensions enjoy a remarkable symmetry under conformal inversions that exchange the horizon with infinity keep photon-sphere fixed. We explore implications of this for dynamics massless massive BPS particles. In particular we find identity between scattering angle probe impinging from in-spiraling very same energy angular momentum falling into inside photon-sphere. argue radial actions Shapiro time-delays two processes, when cutoff regulator or an AdS ambient is adopted. spell out detailed conditions inversion to hold case large BHs four dimensions. address other Dp-branes photon-spheres various flat asymptotics. briefly discuss fate at quantum level well non spherically symmetric branes sketch potential holographic correspondence.

Black holes and D-branes
Black holes have an entropy proportional to the area of the horizon. The microscopic degrees of freedom that give rise to the entropy are not visible in the classical theory. String theory, a quantum theory of gravity, provides a microscopic quantum description of the thermodynamic properties of some extremal and near extremal charged black holes. The description uses properties of some string ...
متن کاملD-branes and Fat Black Holes
The application of D-brane methods to large black holes whose Schwarzschild radius is larger than the compactification scale is problematic. Callan and Maldacena have suggested that despite apparent problems of strong interactions when the number of branes becomes large, the open string degrees of freedom may remain very dilute due to the growth of the horizon area which they claim grows more r...
متن کاملTurning Models Inside Out
We present an approach for change-based (as opposed to state-based) model persistence that can facilitate highperformance incremental model processing (e.g. validation, transformation) by minimising the cost of change identification when models evolve. We illustrate a prototype that implements the proposed approach on top of the Eclipse Modelling Framework and we present a roadmap for further w...
متن کاملNon-BPS excitations of D-branes and black holes∗
This note discusses some results on the non-BPS excitations of D-branes. We show that the excitation spectrum of a bound state of D-strings changes character when the length of the wrapping circle becomes less than ∼ g−1L(S). We review the observed relation between the low energy absorption cross-section of D-branes and the low energy absorption cross-section for black holes. We discuss various...
متن کاملAbsorption of angular momentum by black holes and D-branes
We consider the absorption of higher angular momentum modes of scalars into black holes, at low energies, and ask if the resulting cross sections are reproduced by a D-brane model. To get the correct dependence on the volume of the compactified dimensions, we must let the absorbing element in the brane model have a tension that is the geometric mean of the tensions of the D-string and an effect...
